Joovy Caboose Varylight Review!

I’m very excited to introduce you guys to the Joovy Caboose VaryLight stroller. A lot of my readers are city dwellers, who don’t have the space for a large side by side double stroller, or enough space to store a modular tandem stroller. You guys are going to want to keep on reading.

Okay let me break it down for you. The Joovy VaryLight weighs in at around 33 pounds. The front seat, has 3 recline positions, and my daughter loves how upright the seat is. I can use this stroller as a single, and it works great because the basket is rather large. If my son is with us, and I need him near me, he can hop onto the standing platform, a.k.a the coolest skateboard EVER! (You always have to get them excited, lol.)

That’s cool right? But you’ve seen a stand on stroller before, no biggie.

The Joovy Caboose VaryLight has an extendable frame. I love, love, love how they thought of this. You just unlock two pieces on the side and pull a lever underneath the front seat, and it expands. So now when the stroller is longer, your older child can sit on the bench on the back of the stroller. It has a 3 point harness to keep them safe. My son LOVEEEEES his special bench. He loves facing me , and we really have the cutest conversations back there, just the two of us. My younger baby loves sitting upfront and stare out at the world, while me and my son chat.

If I could sum up this stroller in one word, it would be convenient.

It makes taking out both children so much easier, which is what everyone needs more of. Things that make life easier.

This is the storage basket I was speaking about. Like the stroller, the basket is also extendable. When your child is sitting or standing in the back, the basket folds down. But when the back isn’t being used, look at how big that basket gets.

The snack tray upfront is great too. I like it because it keeps her safely in her seat. This is the seat in the middle position.

Here’s a picture of the Joovy Caboose VaryLight along side the Uppababy Vista in my trunk. It’s crazy but I’ve had them both in my trunk all week switching it up. Whenever I have both kids I use the VaryLight. It’s just so great to have.

Oh and the best part? The stroller has a ONE HAND FOLD. Yep! One hand! Simple and easy to use. I can literally fold the stroller while holding my baby girl in my arms.

  • The VaryLight can take one car seat or two car seats, making it the ultimate easy to use double stroller.
  • The rear seat minimum age is 2 1/2 years old.
  • The front seat can be used from birth with the use of an infant car seat, or use the regular stroller seat from 6+ months old.
  • Front seat and back seat have a maximum weight capacity of 55 lbs
  • One hand fold!
  • Front-wheel suspension, front swivel-wheel locks, and rear brakes.
  • Price is around $499

Hi saw this on your Instagram look great and found it for less on amazon.. Is it heavy?

This stroller is extremely heavy. It is also very cumbersome to try and maneuver. Also only 1 child can be comfortable at a time. All the reviews for this stroller are bought by Joovy. They give away strollers for free for a good review. It is on their website under blogs

It is for sure a bit on the heavier side, I did not find it hard to maneuver at all. Both my children WERE VERY comfortable. My daughter loves sitting up and my son sat on the bench comfortably. (1 and 3 years old). Joovy sent me the stroller for my honest review, and do not get a say in how I feel or what I write. I take reviewing very seriously and I would never give a good review to a bad product. Every product has pro’s and con’s and so all I do is point them out. This stroller may not work for you, but it can work for someone else’s lifestyle.

Did you have any issues with the seat not locking when it’s reclined? I just bought this stroller and really like it. But I noticed right away that the seat doesn’t lock…so you can easily push it forward when it’s in the two recline positions. I am worried that my three year old will constantly be pushing the seat forward on my baby which seems dangerous. I don’t think the ultralights is like this.

Hi, love the review and photos! I see this is from a few years back. I was wondering if you were ready to sell the Varylight. I’ve been searching for a tandem stroller and I love this one, but it has been discontinued. Let me know :)
